Bourbon caramel

Ingredients

  • Brownies:
  • 1.0 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1.0 cups Cocoa powder
  • Kosher Salt
  • 1.0 cups Melted Butter
  • 2.0 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 4.0 count Egg
  • 1.0 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1.0 cups Chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cups Pecans
  • Bourbon Caramel:
  • 0.25 cups Sugar
  • 2.0 tablespoons Water
  • 0.25 cups Heavy Cream
  • Kosher Salt
  • 1.0 tablespoons Bourbon
  • Butter

Instructions

  1. 1

    Prep flour & egg mixtures

    • In medium bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder and salt. Set aside.
    • In another bowl, stir together butter and sugar.
    • Add eggs to butter and sugar mixture; whisk until combined.
    • Add vanilla extract; whisk well.

    Finish brownie batter

    • Gently fold flour mixture into egg mixture until no large lumps remain.
    • Add chocolate chips and pecans, if using.
    • Lightly butter or spray Brava square pan; pour batter into pan.

    Bake brownies

    • Press green button to begin preheating.
    • When Brava is preheated, slide square pan into top shelf. Press green button again to begin baking.
    • While brownies bake, prepare caramel.

    Make caramel

    • In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water.
    • Cook over medium high heat until sugar starts to caramelize around the edges, about 6-8 minutes.
    • Remove from heat and carefully whisk in cream and salt; set aside for 5 minutes to cool.
    • Add bourbon; whisk well to combine.

    Cool brownies & serve

    • When your food is done, transfer pan to wire rack and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
    • Transfer brownies to cutting board and cut into desired-size pieces.
    • Drizzle caramel on top of brownies and serve.
